SLAY THE QUEEN

WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY ANDREW WRIGHT

‘Slay the Queen’ invites you to join Alice once more as she returns to Wonderland to solve the mystery of who killed the Queen? And everyone is a suspect.

This original work has been inspired by the colourful stories and characters of “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice through the Looking Glass.” It takes the fantastical characters of Wonderland and blends them into a new genre – that of the murder mystery. This work has been created alongside the young people who perform for you today. Therefore, you are not simply watching a group of talented young performers but a group of storytellers with skills that transcend the performance of the play itself.

It is a young cast with an average age of 13 but I am convinced that when you watch today’s show you will be as impressed as I am with their collective achievement in bringing this work to the stage.

‘Slay the Queen’ at its heart is about fun, frivolity and fantasy. It has been designed for your entertainment and for the joy of sharing a light-hearted story but the creative journey has provided all of us with a depth of understanding about the importance of commitment and discipline and the challenges of creating something of worth as a team.

We hope that you enjoy the show, appreciate the skills that the young people have garnered in the process and celebrate with us their wonderful achievement.

I am super proud of each and every one of the cast of ‘Slay the Queen’ and hope that you will be too.

Enjoy the Show and good luck in working out, who slayed the Queen.

Best Wishes,

Andrew Wright
